Meet the person behind Lock and Lead
Hi, I’m Becca, the person behind Lock and Lead.
Dogs have been a huge part of my life for years, and I know that no two dogs need quite the same thing from their walks or care.
Ive shared my life with dogs, from Dalmations, Cavalier King Charles spaniels and beagles. I’ve experienced everything that comes with Beagles - the wonderful noses, selective hearing, no self control with food, endless sniffing and very definite opinions about which direction a walk should take!
Ive also had experience caring for dogs as they grow older, which has given me a particular soft spot for senior dogs and those who need life to move at a gentler pace.
Why I started Lock and Lead
I wanted to offer something a little different from traditional large group dog walking.
At Lock and Lead, walks aren’t about covering the most miles or rushing from one appointment to the next. They’re about giving your dog the time to enjoy being a dog.
That might be exploring a woodland trail, having a good sniff along the canal, stopping to investigate something apparently extremely important, or simply enjoying a slow wander close to home.
I offer personal, unhurried care that’s shaped around the individual dog - their personality, age, confidence, routine and the things they enjoy.

Meet Henry
Henry was my rescue beagle from Spain and quite simply one of the most loving gentlemen I’ve ever known.
As an ex-hunting dog, he came with plenty of character - and absolutely no respect for the concept of enclosed space. His rescuer warned he could climb brick walls. I discovered she wasn’t exaggerating. He once escaped from an enclosed dog field, and on holiday he ended up on the top of the roof of the holiday home we were staying in.
Life with Henry was never boring. Henry had so much love to give and both my beagles have been a huge support to me through tough times.
Henry came to me when he was 10, but he still had plenty of energy. As time went on, the walks became slower. Sniffing became more important than miles.
Henry passed away the end of February 2026, just shy of 15, but he is a huge part of the reason Lock and Lead exists and why I have a particular soft spot for senior dogs and those that need a little more understanding.
His adventures may be over, but they’re very much part of ours.
Lucy is my beagle and unofficial Lock and Lead route tester. If I’m being completely honest, she is the boss, I am just the staff!
She’s taught me the best walks aren’t necessarily the longest ones. Sometimes spending 10 minutes investigating a hedge is apparently far more valuable than anything I had planned.
She is also responsible for thoroughly testing our local walks for sniff quality, wildlife, and occasionally, abandoned treats.
Her standards are extremely high.
Gentle adventures. Trusted care.
When someone trusts me with their dog, I want them to feel confident that they are being cared for as an individual-not simply added to the pack.
That’s why I take time to get to know every dog before we begin.
We’ll talk about their routine, personality, likes and dislikes, recall, behaviour, health and everything else that helps me understand what makes them feel safe and happy.
Whether they’re an enthusiastic explorer, a professional sniffer, a golden oldie who prefers to take their time, or simply happiest with some company at home, I’ll adapt their care around them.
Because sometimes a good walk isn’t about how far you go. It’s about how much they enjoyed getting there.
